Information about rent and service charge estimates
27 January 2025
We want to be clear and open with our customers about rent and service charge costs.

We're writing to our customers about rent and service charges
The booklets will explain how their rent is calculated and estimates for how much it costs to provide services where they live, such as grounds maintenance, door entry systems and communal electricity.
Dawn Wightman, Director of Homes and Communities said: “We know that some customers have been frustrated with the lack of detail about service charge costs received in the past. We have listened and included clearer information about costs in your estimates, which you can expect to receive in February.
“Please continue to share your feedback as it helps us to continuously improve our service and ensures you get a better experience.”
Estimated service charges for shared owners and leaseholders
We’ll write to customers again to let them know the actual annual cost of their service charge for 2024/25 in the autumn. If our estimate is too low, we’ll charge them any additional money they owe us. Customers can get a refund if our estimate was too high.
Shared owner rent increases
Each year, we usually increase shared ownership rents in line with the Retail Price Index inflation, set out by the government Office of National Statistics, in September of the previous year, plus 0.5%. Our booklet will tell customers how much they need to pay.Rent increases for social housing tenants and supported living customers
We’re regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing. The regulator makes sure A2Dominion, and other housing providers, set their rent the same way, and that customers can afford them. This is called the Rent Standard.
This amount is fixed. This means the amount customers pay for the year won’t change after we’ve made our estimates, regardless of actual costs.
