The donation has meant that the school can provide more opportunities for children to learn; both at school and in case they are forced to self-isolate for any period. It will also help pupils to develop their IT skills for the future.
Chromebooks have been purchased for the younger children to use, while a higher spec laptop is available for the older year groups.
A2Dominion, and construction firm Higgins, are working together to deliver more than 300 new homes at a site on Boston Road, Hanwell, which is just a stone’s throw from the school. They decided to donate the equipment as part of their commitment to support the local community.
Sophie Liardet, Headteacher at St Mark’s Primary School, said the donation would “make a big difference” to the children’s ability to learn in a range of scenarios.
“Children can take part in live lessons, see their teacher and their friends on screen, and keep up with their work,” she said.
“At a time when there is so much financial pressure on budgets for families and schools it is great that through this community connection we can be supported to provide essential items for our children. Thank you from us all at St Mark’s Primary School.”
Danny Lynch, Director of Land and Development at A2Dominion, added: “Supporting the communities in which we work is a vital part of what we do, so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help the pupils of St Mark’s in this way. The past year has showed that we all need to be able to work from home at any time and donating these devices will make a real difference to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to them.”
A2Dominion and Higgins are developing the nearby Boston Road in Hanwell, through a joint venture partnership which will deliver 333 high quality studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes.
